I don't think the problem with commandos is piercing shot, or their damage output. Nerfing the guns is NOT the answer, as it will not get rid of the main problem - people don't like being killed almost instantly by a target they couldn't see. This is frustrating. The problem is stealth. However, if you completely get rid of stealth, you totally ruin knifers, and leave the commando WAY too vulnerable with his small amount of health, and make the class way too hard to play. So we have to keep stealth the same for knifers, but make changes the stealth for snipers.. but doing that would cause many complications; not to mention snipers still need stealth to aid their survivability (which would drop to absolute zero without it).
So the sniper needs to have the option to not be seen by overwhelming opposing forces while he's moving to a new position, but his enemies also need SOME kind of chance against him when he is going to attack. because if the sniper is going to attack, he should not have the luxury of 100% invisibility -- it's laughably unfair. nothing attacks without warning; if a dog is going to bit you, he shows his teeth; if a scorpion is going to sting you, he raises his stinger; if a snake is going to strike, he rattles his tail.. and if a sniper is going to open fire, we need a warning (besides the ever-present PS click). TL;DR WALL OF TEXT. here's the actual suggestion: The commando should be transparent, but not 100% invisible, when he is zoomed into his scope. This would be the same transparency as when you get very close to a stealthed commando and you can see his cloudy silhouette, except you wouldn't have to be close to him, as he is somewhat visible to everyone from any distance while he is ready to attack. if he un-scopes, back to 100% stealth, and he can escape if threatened. this would not affect knifers AT ALL, it would not totally ruin stealthy snipers, and it would at least give the snipers opponents a chance against him. It's only fair; if he's going to attack me, he should be open to attacks himself. ![]() |

When a sniper uses Piercing Shot it already makes a inately loud noise. Use the sound to target them, you a warning from that already. You can hear a snipers stealth when the get so close and even see them. They still make sounds like jumping and falling. They also get the big organge target above their head when the use Piercing Shot. The greatest advantage a sniper has is long range which is the only thing that stealth truely is useful for. If anything they may need to help stealth because of mark target and all the sounds. All you have to do is follow the noise if you not a soldier. Soldier is the only class that can't keep up with sniper. Try playing a sniper and see what it is like it is not that easy.

I have a level 15 commando with 43+ hours of playtime on him. i know what it's like to be a sniper, tho i switched to knife/pistol some time ago.
piercing shot is not enough to identify a sniper before he attacks, as all experienced snipers won't activate it until a split second before they fire their first shot. making his presence known at the very moment he attacks isn't very useful when they can kill you in less than a second anyway (keep in mind, i'm not complaining about the power of his shots. i think rifle damage is fine). ![]() |

I have a... L5 troop trapper (commando[stabber]) AND a..... L5 P.Shot (sniper{ERR UMM SNIPER lol}spammer* Ive noticed on the spammer* thats it u use that and thats it basically. where as on my gunner/soldeir's and even Commando(stabber) youe have to kind of cycle through your abilitys 2 survive @ Scenario 1 Countles times ive stood stabing some one 2 -3 ft away and there a silly spammer 5-15 ft away(on my team) Shooting our common enemy. Result=Spammer was dead/nat was dead aind i died from burning bullets {example ok} @ Scenario 2 Countles times ive stood stabing some one 2 -3 ft away and there a silly spammer 5-15 ft away(spammer stops tryin to spam shoot and helps by knifing) He's(on my team) RESULT=1-2 wounded snipers(mabey 1 dead even)/ ........Nat iz dead and flag stays our's Lots of people who sniper are never even contemplating tryin 2 knife anny one ever? And do be hounest here a lot of the sniper=U wouldnt know how 2 annt way because u never tried |

Interesting idea; some issues pop up with communicating the change in stealth to the person using the weapon, but still an interesting idea

I play a lot (actually most of my time playing this game) as sniper and I hate when people complain about PS. It's not overpowerd at all. The problem is (and always was) in stealth.
I agree with this suggestion 100%. Best idea ever and it won't make the sniper commandos useless as they will still be able to snipe normaly. And the little yellow thingy above snipers head when PS is activated is not enough, because when PS is activated, usually the target dies within 3 seconds and has no chance of spotting the sniper and take cover. Anybody who can't kill in less than 3 seconds with sniper and PS is just a n00b... /signed |

I think the problem ARE the guns. They should be like that:
Normal mode -> just a Rifle. It outranges gunners and soldiers but not like the sniperrifle. It is more like if you fight in a groupe -> commandos stand in the back. Scope mode -> The sniper rifle as it is now but with significantly nerfed damage. A weapon that allows you to be impossible to kill (because of the range) does not have to deal good damage. It still will be good to finish of people. This will encourage grouplay and make snipers less lame. Think about it Hate. Now every game with more than 3 (good) snipers is just broken. It should also be of interest to stop the "non sniper" servers. [X] Rework the rifle and add a non scoped mode. Nothing else will fix this broken class.

And btw the recent PTE updates even more increased "have to play from high distance" gameplay of snipers. That makes things worse. Sure commandos arent that much group players like gunners/soldiers but you should alteast try to attach them more to the group again.

Doojoo, sniper can easilly get killed by BB even if miles away. Just get hit once with BB lvl 5 and that's it for you. Then you just get shot once more and it's realy over.
