Hello all,

After checking all the various fixes people do for the PB (22) and none working for me, I looked into the problem myself.

I noticed that 1 of my CPU cores was running around 95%. If this spikes up to 100% I'll start getting ingame lag that would make it look like I was teleporting, hence punkbuster coming in to save the day for my obvious cheating. I don't think this game uses both cores.

To fix it, I downloaded the latest AMD CPU driver, when installing this asked me to uninstill my current driver. I did so and now it is at driver version 5.2.3790.1830, 10/1/2002. I didn't bother installing the latest version I downloaded as BF now works without the PB (22) kick.

You can check your CPU usage by firing up the BFH game from the Play Now button, after you have chosen your character don't join a server. Just hit Ctrl-Alt-Del and go to Task Manager then click the performance tab. Here you will see your CPU usuage, if it is near 90% you have problems. A simple game login screen, even if it is rendering, should not use anything close to 100%.

They have a an issue they need to look into, and really, it shouldn't be that hard to find. They may have found the issue and have fixed it, rather release a hotfix they are probably addressing many other bugs they have found to make releasing a new patch worth while.

Thank you for you time. I hope it works for you.

Interesting.

My CPU Usage on one of the CPU's is roughly 60% constant even though the affinity of BFHeroes is set to all 4 of my Quad core processor. My drivers are up to date but I still get constant PunkBuster (22) kicks.

I have no idea what to do to fix this but I can tell you after getting PunkBuster issues for nearly every BattleField product I have had I am quite sure that PunkBuster is absolutely useless.

It is something that DICE should have moved away from years ago but for some reason they have persisted. It is a rare occasion for PunkBuster to be updated so I know there will be no fix for this DICE are happy they have enough people playing this game and will leave it at that.

The really odd thing is I know it's not a hardware or software issue at my end as I can play fine in the Morning but by the evening I get kicked constantly every 5 mins. So what ever it is that's causing the PunkBuste (22) kicks it isn't anything on my machine.

Shame really as I wouldn't mind playing this game some more I may as well delete it from my system now as this is the second time I have returned to the game to see if this issue has been resolved yet to find nothing but adhoc workarounds.

I believe driver version 5.2.3790.1830 (10/1/2002) is a PCI to USB open host controller driver (at least that's what google tells me). I can't find that version of a CPU driver on AMD's site.

A listing of available drivers for the Athlon 64 family (I assume that's what you have) shows 1.3.2.0053 as the latest CPU driver (9/1/2007). Is that the driver you meant?

I have a single core CPU , latest driver from AMD installed . However since the days after un-installing my FRAPS program on the XP partition i use for this game , alll my PB 22 kicks stopped .

Ive also uninstalled PB from control panel and re-installed/ updated from the battlefield heroes program files , and not use the PB updater , this also may be the reason .

I fixed the PB kick (22) by using internet explorer 7... which is a little odd but anyway it works good so who cares!

I'm getting really confused by DICE atm.

Yesterday everything worked wonders, no random kicks or errors.
But today I cant play a game for more then 5 minutes before I get an error saying "You were kicked by Punkbuster (22)" and I also have tremendous laggs in-game mostly.

Cristari, are you running any additional programs with Battlefield Heroes in the evening?

I was having the same problem, getting kicked by Punkbuster (22) every 2 or 3 minutes... it was frustrating as heck! Finally, I started closing programs from my taskbar to see if one of those programs was having a conflict with punkbuster... it turns out one of them were! The program, in my case, was GSC. GSC is a gaming chat program, its like a combination of xfire and teamspeak.

My advice, even though you said you're pretty sure it doesn't have anything to do with your software, is every time you get kicked by Punkbuster (22) close a program on your taskbar. Do this until you no longer get kicked.

The exact same programs I have running when I am not having any trouble. Believe me when I say I have shut down everything else except BFH to see if it was those and it isn't

Battlefield Heroes is a CPU Hog. After I have set up my characters for playing, I turn off my web browser (Firefox) and then hit Play Now and game runs much smoother. Exclamation
I still get hit with PB Error 22 from time to time and I'm still looking for more answers there. Huh
One thing that has helped me with Error 22 is that I have turned off my MS Firewall and only keep on my AVG Firewall while playing the game. I have had fewer Error 22's come up since trying this. Cool

Everyone seems to have a different solution for this nagging problem. Combined we may all find the answers.

Yeah, I have done everything on this forum in terms of trying to fix this error. I uninstalled/updated pb, I have used IE and Firefox, I uninstalled fraps. I turned off all programs running in the background. Nothing has fixed this issue for me. The game was working fine for me a week or so ago and then all of a sudden it stopped working. I cannot think of anything that I've installed that would cause this issue.
