New HUDless and FreeCam Mode

Listen up Heroes!

Today we released a game update with various fixes and features, and one of those features is to help empower the creative community. Be they machinima enthusiasts or just people looking for those epic screenshots of their heroes or the beautiful animated scenery.

So, first things first.
These features can only be used on Unranked servers, and the FreeCam feature can only be used if the server admin has enabled it. You can't just use it anywhere and everywhere and it does not work in the tutorial mode... and at least for now.

Remove HUD

Removing the HUD can be done on ANY unranked server by simply pressing F11

Using the FreeCam

Upon release there have been a couple of issues with the FreeCam but we are working on them and hope to have them resolved ASAP.

For now only those with access to the serversettings.con file will be able to use FreeCam on their server by adding the line sv.allowfreecam 1 to it while in unranked mode. UPDATE We have found the issue preventing FreeCam being enabled via RCON command, and this issue will be resolved in our next game update so that it can be enabled/disabled via any admin tool on any rented server.

Next you must reset your key bindings. To do this, go to "C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\Battlefield Heroes" delete the file "controls.con" and launch the game. This will set your controls back to default but it will also enable the freecam key which is F12.

Now once you have done that, join any unranked server with FreeCam enabled and simply hit F12 to go into FreeCam mode. You can combine this with F11 to remove the HUD also.


How to control the FreeCam

Basic movement of the FreeCam is achieved much like you would expect.
You move around with the W, S, A and D keys and to pivot the camera you your the [/b]mouse[/b].

You can make the camera move up and down without needing to Pivot your camera using (Default) CTRL and F

Pressing Spacebar will set your camera to follow a target hero.

Possible issues and fixes.

- Lagging after using the FreeCam
Pressing F12 to go in and out of FreeCam again (Possibly multiple times) may be able to resolve this issue. (Suggested by Harlinger)

Some cool stuff:

While flying planes: Enable Freecam, put it there in the air where you can see most of the sky and press F12. Quickly press 'Ctrl' while holding down the 'w' to speed up your airplane. You now have full control of your plane while watching it with the Freecam! Pretty hard to master this way of flying, yet I succeeded several times Last thing is to disable the HUD with F11, and start shooting your own machinima! (Keep ctrl pressed down the entire time while flying . When you lost track of your plane, quickly release control, relocate your plane, press ctrl again and keep flying, Soldier!)

While riding Jeeps: Enter the jeep as a passenger, enable Freecam and press the space-bar. Disable the HUD, sit back and enjoy what's about to follow.

While riding Tanks: Same as the Jeep.

While being yourself: Press F12 and hit the space-bar. You now follow a random fellow teammate.

This has always been an issue with our freecam.
A great way to combat this is to change the source of movement.
For this we'd recommend using a game pad like and XBOX controller or something similar. With a little practice you can get a nice smooth camera.

If you Hold "W" or whatever other key you use for moving forward in game and press F12 to go into freecam then you can move forwards. BUt no, you can't move while in freecam otherwise.

When will sv.allowfreecam 1 work through rcon? My server provider (Branzone) does not the option to edit the raw serversettings.con file.
