Valve announced a native steam client release for linux. Left 4 Dead 2 will be the first game ported and others will follow. This includes Counter-Strike, Portal, the Half-Life-Serie series and Team Fortress.

I will give it a try and really appreciate the efforts in getting independet from proprietary OS like Windows and Mac. EA's iOS support entry is in the fledgling stages, so it will take another couple of years to see some real EA games ported to Linux.

Sadly they don't even allow to install BFH software on other operating systems than Windows. The installer refuses to start though being able to run with WINE, cause it checks the kernel.
I hope this restriction is lifted and maybe we'll have a native client if they decide to port it to a new engine some day.
