Settlers come. Settlers force native Americans out.

Settlers form colonies. Colonies want to be independent. Colonies beat britain and are now own nation.

People in the North don't want slaves, people in the South do. War ensues and slavery is gone.

*Fast forward 75ish years* Wars in Europe? We don't want to get involved. Bombed? OK, we join. Allies win, Nazis are bad.

We get to space.

^America's history. Pretty much all of it.
