![]() Let me tell you a story. Once upon a time, there was a brave, lonely warrior, in search for fame. As he walked past a few unsuspecting crates in Victory Village, a wonderful event took place: a monkey jumped out. The warrior, called Biggar, loved him right away. He called him Mel and from that moment, the two were inseparable. They did everything together: battling, relaxingly strolling across the beach, sightseeing from a stolen National plane: absolutely everything. But then, on a sunny afternoon, the most unfortunate happened. As Biggar needed a clean-up for his sniper rifle, he headed off to the supply manager. Of course Mel accompanied him. When they arrived at the supply barrack, it turned out that the manager wasn't there and they went inside on their own. There it was: shiny new holsters of the newest model. Although Mel had somehow put the desire for fame on the background, Biggar couldn't help feeling attracted to the holsters: with such a rare item, he would gain everyone's respect! It was commonly known however, that holsters had a monkey-repelling side effect and that is why Biggar had the biggest dilemma of his life: should he wear the holsters and obtain fame, or should he stick to his loyal little friend? He considered it for a few seconds and said apologetically to Mel: ![]() Reconstruction of the moment, made by GoingLoco Mel's eyes filled with tears as he saw how well the holsters fitted Biggar's muscular shoulders and he ran off to Biggar's tent; the place he had called home for so long now. He grabbed the few things he possessed and felt even more miserable, now the tears were mixed with anger. "Such a long time, all thrown away because he thinks the holsters are cooler!", he thought. As he walked firmly out of the camp, he heard Biggar calling him. "No turning back now", he said to himself. ![]() Picture taken by a bypassing guard. As the night fell, he found his eyes filled with tears again. Their beautiful friendship had popped like bubblegum. Just when he thought it couldn't get any worse, it started raining. Huge amounts of water poured down from the sky, soaking Mel completely. He really wanted to go back and make things up, but his pride wouldn't let him. At least it gave some satisfaction that Biggar had called after him... ![]() Footage of a security camera The next morning he woke up on a hard, cold floor. Although hard and cold, it wasn't wet and this is what made Mel suspicious. When he opened his eyes, he saw a puffy face behind iron bars and it seemed to him that the man was imprisoned. It took him, drowsy as he still was, a minute or so to realise that it wasn't the man, but him who was imprisoned! The man turned out to be a circus boss, who wanted Mel to perform in his shows. Mel didn't have much of a choice and several months passed. He hated the tutu he had to wear. He hated the circus ball he had to balance on. But most of all, he hated the circus boss. And just as much as he hated him, he wanted to be back with Biggar. He had heard rumours that Biggar was organising an event, called the December Giveaway. Ooh, if I only could express how much Mel wanted to take part in it... ![]() Picture taken by the circus boss to advertise Mel got lucky a few nights later, though. On Christmas eve there was a big banquet and the circus boss didn't think Mel would run off now, so he was released from his cage to join the festive diner. After all clowns, acrobats and mainly the boss had drunk so much that the wouldn't be able to notice him sneaking off, he seized his chance. He ran away to Biggar. It took him a full day to get there and it wasn't until boxing day that he knocked on the door of Biggar's house, where he resided for the holidays. Biggar however, didn't seem to enjoy it very much. Living so long without Mel had only enforced his belief that holsters were superior to moneys, for holsters don't run away. ![]() ![]() Quick-sketch made by neighbours after hearing shouting from across the street. He raged for ten minutes at Mel and then seized him and threw him in the basement, which's door only opened two times a day to throw in some food. It wasn't until New Year's eve, as he suspected by the counting back to zero, until he got pulled out. Next thing he knew, he was tied up to some kind of rocket. ![]() Portrait made by 27.Poker, a.k.a. Kobahr What happened after Biggar lighted the fuse, we can only guess. Most people think Mel got shot into space, where he adapted to the circumstances and formed an army of clones. The only thing we know for sure is that a few months after the start of 2011, a terrifying broadcast popped up on all world wide television networks. In this broadcast, Mel, who had unrecognisably changed by that time, demanded a full apology of Biggar. Otherwise, he would invade planet earth and enter the battlefield himself for a final confrontation. ![]() Screen capture of the worldwide broadcast After this broadcast, Biggar started to feel a little bit anxious, but the demanded apology was, of course, out of question. Therefore, he started gathering the greatest warriors of the Battlefield to support him against Mel. This was harder than he had expected, because Mel had already started creating an army. Both sides still need heroes and if you support either Mel or Biggar, you can let them know here. Mel announced that he will attack on the 5th of June at 2 o'clock CET. Will this be the final battle? Will Biggar be forced to apologise? Or will Mel be defeated? We will only know after the battle... ![]() Banner of Mel's recruiting campaign After a long and very epic battle, Biggar's forces finally managed to defeat Mel's troops. Even though several inter-galactic generals were taken into custody, Mel was no where to be found. After he figured out he didn't stand stand a chance against the united forces of the Battlefield, he decided to swallow his defeat and make a run for it. And oh boy, he sure ran. 3 Days and 3 nights, with very little rest, through marshes and plains, forests and rivers, until his pursuers finally had lost track of him. It almost took a year before he was spotted again. Living in the wilderness had taken its toll; he had become very skinny and the battery of his robotic arm was almost empty. He needed to get back in touch with mankind, and quickly, so he decided to head for the battlefield once again. There wasn't a chance any of the Royals would accept him after what he had done, but maybe he could cut a deal with the National Federation. During his time in space, he had learned a lot about various pieces of advanced technology and all of this was enough to convince the leader of the Nationals to offer Mel protection in exchange for information. He was put to work in the National laboratories and under his command, the National scientists made great progress. Another advantage for Mel was that, when all of these technologies were used against Royal Britannia, the Nationals might be able to win the war, thus defeating Biggar as well... ![]() Picture of Mel after 1 year of living in the wilderness. Taken by Mainboy. And with this we end this story in the present, for now. No one, not even Mel or Biggar, knows how this tragic story will end, but one thing is certain: it ain't over 'till it's over. The only thing we now know is that it wise to keep your little shoulder-friends close at all times. Sadly Biggar and Mel are the ones to experience what happens if you don't. |

It must have been copied over from my bookmarks bar. At this rate we will have a full fledged story line going on here. Maybe we need a movie: The Story of Mel, A Tragedy. |
