to fade the mugshot, hit the create clipping mask, then use the gradient tool and drag it over the bottom up.

hey, i've got a question, how do i get rid of the white square around my sig??? (i use gimp and when i save it, i do have the black and white blocks behind my sig). Pleeeease pm me.
thx  edit: never mind, i just saw there is no white box around my image!!!! thx anyway
