It happens to me a few seconds after I drop into a game. It could be lag, connecting to the server, or bad programming leaving a higher load of processes to do at certain times.

For example, you might freeze a split second after you die as the game is loading up all of the customizations.

Perhaps, that ^ is what is happening to some of us when we drop in...

I also have this problem. Peoples custom skins no longer updates upon death.
Instead it likes updating while im actually playing.

The game freezes for 3-5 seconds - insta death nearly everytime.

I never had the problem before. It's justs started out of the blue.

i have this problem too!

i wondered at first if it was my computer but i can play games like left 4 dead 2
and team fortress 2 and other games with No or hardly any lag compared to BF:Heroes
and its not just in the start of a game

i'll have bad lag just at random intervals throughout a game

This is not the freeze we are experiencing. We are aware that when we enter a game/respawn the game has to load new players customizations.

The freeze we are having takes place a few minutes after you are spawned. It is similar to taking a SS (screenshot) ingame. It is being caused by the PBSS(Punkbuster screen shot) service on a server. If the PBSS service is turned of the freeze problem is fixed.

The weird thing is that this problem started to occur in dec 2009 or jan 2010 (I don't recall the specific time). Before that time we were having freeze free games

So it could be 2 things,
A BFH update that mismatches with PBSS and causing the freeze to happen to some of the players
A PB update that mismatches with PBSS on BFH and causing the freeze to happen to some of the players.

Yes I have that too, random freezes that happen just when I'm about to kill someone (and as a result I end up dead ).
And yes those freezes weren't there before the December update (I'm sure I could play freezeless all the summer, besides the loading of customizations). Also I found that stopping PunkbusterA & B processes before starting the game helps sometimes, but not very often, I still get 1-5 freezes per round...

*Update*

I was able to play virtually freeze/lag free games for the better part of last week. What I did was bookmark any lag-free server I was able to find.

Only problem is, if I want to find a quick game (the bookmarked servers don't always have ppl playing in them), I can't use the "Play Now" button because it usually dumps me into a server where I experience constant lag/freezes.

Hope they resolve this issue soon, I'm reluctant to buy more bf's when I can't even play the game normally half the time.

Actually your wrong,I used to get screen freeze and connection(3) on my downstairs computer which is an old dual core Dell.I Now have my own computer upstairs using a router connection.it is a quad core acer and since ive had this i do not get the screen freeze or connection(3).

If anything its to do with your CPU usage since my old computers usage was always at 100% while playing BFH,But my new on is only at 25-30% Usage.

And punkbuster is not the problem for the screen freeze either.

Well it is Punkbuster that is causing the problems.
