The Plan for Cheaters

For a long time now many of you have been complaining that we haven’t been doing a good job of banning cheaters’ accounts when you've sent us clear video evidence of cheating. This was a totally valid complaint and we’ve been working hard to fix the problem.

There is a long and epic story about why it wasn’t working, and I’m not going to go over the whole thing. The short version is that large corporations are strange beasts and sometimes their different limbs don’t co-ordinate. In this case, we devs at Easy and the customer service department simply failed to work together properly.

So… we’ve taken over the video review work here in the studio. We’ve hired some people to work under the tutelage of VitalBullet, who is the universally acknowledged master of video cheat spotting. Today that change has started bearing fruit. A few hours ago we perma-banned 67 accounts of confirmed users.

This batch included a mix of high and low level players, free-loaders and paying users. We are careful not to ban accounts unless the evidence is conclusive, but when it is, we don’t give special preference to anyone.

This is just the start of course. Cheating will never disappear completely, but we should all see an reduction in the amount of cheaters in-game in the coming weeks. If you run into somebody doing it, please take a video and submit it to us for review. Please check out the guidelines here. We can't promise any fast turnaround time for the video reviews right now, but as we get used to this new process it will get faster and faster.
