Battlefield Heroes

One nobel royal family has for many centuries reigned over our nation. Every single soul was happy with these nobel kings who brought welth and fortune to the people and they were spoken of as gods and angels.
But with time this family became very aware of its possessions and power. Kings with selfish purposes who didnt care about theyr people began to rise.
One of these evil kings saw that the highlands of the nation couldnt provide enough taxes of theyr cold agricultural lands and they were hard to reach
due to the dangerous highland roads.
The king decided to leave the highlands for what they were and started over with theyr own new people called 'The Royals'.
The Royals were told by the king that the highlanders refused to pay taxes and only demanded the king's generosity with nothing in return so the royals began to boycot the highlanders.
The highlanders soon felt theyr welth going down cause they had allways fared trade with theyr brothers beyond the mountains. Now the highlanders received message that the brothers beyond the mountains, now called 'The Royals', had turned against them and they realized that the once good and
nobel royal family was overtaken by the devil.
The highlanderss wanted to restore the lands as they were before and therefor called themselves 'The Nationals'. The Nationals formed a strong army to
regain the land and make it whole again but was soon evenly driven by revenge and hatred.

So that fuels the war that is still going on today:
The Royals: Good men fighting for the honour of the royal lands, unaware of the evil cause.
The Nationals: Angry men fighting for revenge, with a fading goal of connecting and restoring the lands as they once were.

Just a story to give your next battle some meaning

The point of the story is that soldiers on both sides are not really evil.
And yes it's just some fiction bull****, thnx for stating the obvious.

I never imagined the Nationals as 'highlanders', I've always viewed them as a German-esque group of people, hailing from dull, grey, industrialized cities.

True, the default outfits and vehicles look like that.
I just felt like telling a different story and I gave them a random name and place, could as well have been lowlanders or islanders or whatever.

Not really

The bicycle incident was only the ignition to this war. While they may say that relations between the two were fine before, not even the most magical and cartoonish places can house an explanation like that.

I'll flesh that out in my story, incorporating EA's official plot.

You are really going through with this story?

The only reason why they started fighting is because they discovered they respawn when they die anyway, so they have nothing to lose.

By the way, I'm dutch to, but my English is pretty decent.
