Hello Heroes,
I'm writing a story. It's the first one I've written in awhile, so don't laugh if you think it's terrible. It's about a troop named Alex, trained as a commando. Later in the series I will try to capture the grueling essence of war. Anyway enjoy and tell me what I can do better in the next chapter. Our Last Stand By: Criken The day was December 14th. A white snowy day with children playing in town square and families together, and happy. As the sun began to set and everyone started to go inside, tanks and planes drove into town with the National Army logo on each vehicle. This would mark the beginning of a fight for our survival and our freedom The men of the town huddled into the church. “What are we going to do,” a community member asked, “We’re being invaded.” “I have an idea,” I shouted, “Everyone who is healthy enough to fight get in the jeep behind the church. We’re going to the head of the Royal Army.” 17 men and teenagers piled into the two jeeps. We drove out of town undetected. It took two days to get to the training center. After eight rigorous weeks, we were given our classes. I was fast, but could not tolerate pain for very long, so I was trained for another week as a commando. General Thomas taught me about the art of stealth and assassinating specific targets. The next week, people started to call me “Nighthawk” because of my speed and precise aim. I was placed in a squad with a gunner, two soldiers, and commando, Brigadier General Thomas. “Today we will be heading toward the coast. The Nationals have captured almost all of the territory located there. Nighthawk, we are going to capture the lookout and provide sniper support for Bones (a gunner), Tiger, and Wheels (soldiers). Bones, Tiger, and Wheels, you will head for the windmill. There is supposed to be some troops on guard duty over there. You’ll going to have a tough fight. Everyone know what to do?” “Sir, yes sir!” the troops shouted. SKiDPlaysInvisibleGuitars |

Chapter 2: The Invasion Begins
The squad got in the jeep headed for the coast. "Do you think we'll find anybody at the windmill," Tiger asked. "Probably,” General Thomas, “Some civilians reported National Soldiers and Commandos at the windmill. You guys have to take them out. You’ll have to come from the bridges on both sides. They are armed with more advanced weapons than we have now, so Nighthawk and I are going to provide sniper support.” We made it to the coast at dawn. The Nationals were switching shifts as we got there. “Put these on,” General Thomas commanded. “What are they,” I asked. “Radios. They will make sure we know where each other are,” General Thomas replied. Brigadier General Thomas and I went towards the lookout. I pulled out my knife as we silently moved closer. An enemy commando was sitting there. “Tell them to stay away from the windmill,” I said, “At least for now.” “Why? There’s no reason,” General Thomas replied. General Thomas pulled his knife out as he crouched behind the commando and slit his throat. “Help me!” the troop screamed out. I never thought of war as something so brutal. It was horrifying. Nobody, not even the most cold hearted National, would ever deserve this. I knelt down beside the commando until blood was gushing out of his mouth. I was furious with General Thomas. How could anybody ever kill someone in cold blood right in front of someone’s eyes. “Ahhhhhh!” General Thomas screamed. I don’t know what I have just done. I killed a General of the Royal Army. The blood came dripping off of my knife onto the ground as the sun appeared over the horizon. SKiDPlaysInvisibleGuitars |
